HISTORY -

      Before 2009, CAT was a paper based test conducted on a single day for all candidates. The pattern, number of questions and duration have seen considerable variations over the years.

Exam format

The Common Admission Test (CAT), like virtually all large-scale exams,  multiple forms, or versions, of the test. Hence there are two types of scores involved: a raw score and a scaled score.
The raw score is calculated for each section based on the number of questions one answered correctly, incorrectly, or omitted. Candidates are given +3 points for each correct answer and -1 point for each incorrect answer. No points are given for questions that are not answered. The raw scores are then adjusted through a process called equating. Equated raw scores are then placed on a common scale or metric to ensure appropriate interpretation of the scores. This process is called scaling.

CAT Logical Reasoning: Clocks, calendars, binary logic, seating arrangement, blood relations, logical sequence, assumption, premise, conclusion, linear and matrix arrangement, etc.

 CAT Exam 2014 Details of Eligibility and Paper Pattern -
The CAT (Common Admission Test) is conducted every year by the  Indian Institute of Management, the most premiere management institutes, to admit students in different management courses of two years duration.  Some other top management institutes in the country. Eligibility for Admissions:
The candidates should possess the Bachelors Degree in Commerce/ Science/ Arts / any other disciplines with a minimum of 50% marks / equivalent  in the concerned qualifying examinations for this purpose.

The CAT Exam is conducted in the online modes having objective type multiple choice based questions on the following main sections:
Section I: English (Verbal Ability)
Section II: Mathematics (Quantitative Ability)
Section III: DI (Data Interpretation)
Section IV: LR (Logical Reasoning)
Total Number of Questions: 60
Total Time Allotted: 155 Minutes
Marking Criteria:
The candidates will get three marks for each correct answer attempted by them while there will be deduction of the specified marks for the negative attempts made by the candidates. Hence, the candidates should attempt only those questions about which they are sure.
Date of Exam:
The CAT Exam is mostly organized in the months of October and November every year. There is a testing window of 21 days for all the exams.
